What's New at CWBS?

Our Year 1 explorers had a fantastic day in Sai Kung Town learning about community and roles, visiting the post office, the police station, the library, refuse collection point, and exploring the local shops and markets. To top off an extra special day, the children spotted some of Sai Kung’s famous local cattle enjoying a quiet nap in the shade!

We encourage reading every day, inspiring our students to build a lifelong love of books. Our space features a dedicated multilingual section to celebrate our diverse community and foster language skills, along with a cozy auditorium designed for interactive library lessons, storytelling, and quiet reading sessions.

We celebrated Mid-Autumn Festival with our annual evening event, bringing our school community together for a memorable night. It was wonderful to see such a fantastic turnout, with children and parents enjoying a lovely guzheng performance, arts and crafts activities, festive photo moments, classic lantern riddles, and a lantern parade. A big thank you goes to our Chinese team for organising and leading this beautiful and joyful event.

Learning extends far beyond the classroom walls. Hands-on, real-world experiences help our young learners connect their inquiry topics to the world around them.

Over the past two weeks, our Year 2 to Year 5 classes put their learning into practice across the city:

Year 2: Visited the local fire station to deepen their understanding of communities and systems, seeing firsthand how our neighborhood keeps us safe.

Year 3: Explored forces at Super Sports Park to deepen their science understanding.

Year 4: Journeyed to Noah’s Ark to support inquiry into global sharing, peace, and communication.

Year 5: Dived into themes of exploration and discovery at the Maritime Museum.

Students thoroughly enjoyed the trips, coming back with new insights.

Students wore clothing representing their heritage, took part in a range of activities, and came together for an assembly to learn about different cultures and appreciate our diversity.

Welcome back! It may be a hot day, but the beautiful clear skies gave us the fantastic start to the new term. A very warm welcome to our Year 1 students and all the new faces joining CWBS today! We’ve missed the chatter, laughter, and energy on the playground and in the hallways.

With so many exciting plans ahead, we can’t wait to watch our students try new things, ask big questions, and build lasting friendships. We look forward to sharing every milestone with our wonderful school community this year.

In recent sporting events, our students performed with outstanding dedication, demonstrating both exceptional skill and exemplary sportsmanship while representing Clearwater Bay School.

Girls Cricket: Our team competed in the Cup tournament at King's Park, displaying great resilience and commendable progress in their performance.

Boys Cricket: Out of 24 international and ESF teams, our two squads secured an impressive 1st and 3rd place finish in the Plate Competition.

Aquathon: Eleven athletes delivered a fantastic team performance in a demanding 250m swim and 1km run at KGV. We would like to give special recognition to two outstanding individual achievements from the Aquathon event:

- Leonard: Won his individual heat and finished 12th out of 75 boys (16th overall out of 150 competitors).

- Ho Lam: Achieved 1st place overall, winning the entire individual portion of the event out of 150 entries. Congratulations to Ho Lam on this absolutely outstanding performance!

As these mark the final sports events of the year, we want to express our gratitude to Mr. Pattison for his leadership of the PSPE and ECA programme, to all staff and families for their support across all 30 inter-school events this academic year and countless hours of ECAs that have provided such valuable enrichment opportunities for our student athletes.

Our Year 1s had a fantastic time trading the classroom for the great outdoors with Forest Adventures. From head to toe, the students were immersed in nature, mud, and hands-on learning.

The children enjoyed splashing in the mud and routing waterways, figuring out how water flows and shapes the earth around it. It was wonderful watching them huddle together during raft building, figuring out how to build something sturdy as a team. Through an exceptional day of outdoor learning, the students practised great communication, strength and coordination, and creative problem-solving. Well done, Year 1!

The ESF and CWBS Chinese Teams organised an art session for our students as part of the ESF Chinese Cultural Event. We invited Master Cui Zepei, a National First-Class Artist, to lead a masterclass.

Under Master Cui’s guidance, students explored drawing different types of birds and fruits in the traditional huaniao style. Beyond learning foundational brushwork and ink techniques, the children worked to capture the serene and harmonious essence that defines this art form.

Our students showed great engagement, gaining a deeper appreciation for Chinese heritage through painting.

Welcome back! It may be a hot day, but the beautiful clear skies gave us the fantastic start to the new term. A very warm welcome to our Year 1 students and all the new faces joining CWBS today! We’ve missed the chatter, laughter, and energy on the playground and in the hallways.

With so many exciting plans ahead, we can’t wait to watch our students try new things, ask big questions, and build lasting friendships. We look forward to sharing every milestone with our wonderful school community this year.

In recent sporting events, our students performed with outstanding dedication, demonstrating both exceptional skill and exemplary sportsmanship while representing Clearwater Bay School.

Girls Cricket: Our team competed in the Cup tournament at King's Park, displaying great resilience and commendable progress in their performance.

Boys Cricket: Out of 24 international and ESF teams, our two squads secured an impressive 1st and 3rd place finish in the Plate Competition.

Aquathon: Eleven athletes delivered a fantastic team performance in a demanding 250m swim and 1km run at KGV. We would like to give special recognition to two outstanding individual achievements from the Aquathon event:

- Leonard: Won his individual heat and finished 12th out of 75 boys (16th overall out of 150 competitors).

- Ho Lam: Achieved 1st place overall, winning the entire individual portion of the event out of 150 entries. Congratulations to Ho Lam on this absolutely outstanding performance!

As these mark the final sports events of the year, we want to express our gratitude to Mr. Pattison for his leadership of the PSPE and ECA programme, to all staff and families for their support across all 30 inter-school events this academic year and countless hours of ECAs that have provided such valuable enrichment opportunities for our student athletes.

Our Year 1s had a fantastic time trading the classroom for the great outdoors with Forest Adventures. From head to toe, the students were immersed in nature, mud, and hands-on learning.

The children enjoyed splashing in the mud and routing waterways, figuring out how water flows and shapes the earth around it. It was wonderful watching them huddle together during raft building, figuring out how to build something sturdy as a team. Through an exceptional day of outdoor learning, the students practised great communication, strength and coordination, and creative problem-solving. Well done, Year 1!

The ESF and CWBS Chinese Teams organised an art session for our students as part of the ESF Chinese Cultural Event. We invited Master Cui Zepei, a National First-Class Artist, to lead a masterclass.

Under Master Cui’s guidance, students explored drawing different types of birds and fruits in the traditional huaniao style. Beyond learning foundational brushwork and ink techniques, the children worked to capture the serene and harmonious essence that defines this art form.

Our students showed great engagement, gaining a deeper appreciation for Chinese heritage through painting.
